Regional SHE Adviser
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with legal requirements and Company procedures and policies.
- Management on preventing injury to personnel and damage to property.
- Assisting, as necessary, during tendering, planning and pre-contract stages.
- Carry out safety inspections and audits and advise management, as appropriate, to make improvements.
- Monitor trends and make policy improvements to manage trends.
- Investigate accidents, incidents etc. making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
- Assist in identifying training requirements and deliver various training courses.
- Suggest methods to promote health, safety and environmental awareness at all levels.
- Liaise with Enforcing Bodies and Government Officials as is necessary.
- Functionally report and respond to safety and environmental incidents and emergencies etc.
- Attend Company Safety Committee meeting and actively advise on matters.
- Report on a monthly basis to the Board, statistics and performance objectives.
- Managed two safety advisers.
Achievements
- Reduced primary AIR from 17.64 to 01.42,
- Directed a behavioural change programme reducing incident
- Established management systems compliant with ISO 9001, 18001 and 14001.
- Conducted regional and cross Regional management system audits.
- Three Gold RoSPA awards.
ROLE
In this role, Regional Health & Safety Adviser I was responsible for H&S standards on all North West based projects. At any time there were around 30-35 live projects ranging from small works jobs starting at £ 50k to full scale new build projects up to £ 50m.
To assist me I had an assistant H&S adviser.
Sectors included, industrial, commercial, retail and private sector.
I left this role to go to ISG for career advancement.
